Mr. Vreeland grew up in Barry County, Michigan, and lived and attended high school in Puruándiro, Michoacán, México for a year in the early 1980’s. After returning to this country, he graduated from Kalamazoo College and began a career in the human services. He worked first with troubled youth at Lakeside Residence in Kalamazoo, and later with adults with developmental disabilities and/or mental illness in the public mental health system. Mr. Vreeland is able to communicate effectively and supportively with a wide variety of individuals and their families in times of crisis. Additionally, Mr. Vreeland is very comfortable assisting people in Spanish and French as well as English.

Before graduating cum laude from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in May of 2001, Mr. Vreeland was an Associate Law Review Editor in 2000 and Case Notes Editor in 2000-2001, earning a Certificate of Merit in Advanced Research and Writing.

Mr. Vreeland’s practice in Western Michigan focuses on personal injury in addition to immigration law, with a particular emphasis on applying the principles of therapeutic jurisprudence to all areas of the law. He is a member of the Michigan Association for Justice, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and the Calhoun County Bar Association.

Mr. Vreeland is a member of board of directors for the Marshall chapter of the American Youth Soccer Organization and regularly referees and coaches youth soccer. He also enjoys long-distance backpacking and camping with his wife, Shannon, and son, Joshua.
